Dear IMG: I’m having problems with the new slide show on your Jan/Feb CD. Everytime I run a slide show I end up in a endless loop. It seems when the slide show gets to the last picture it quits, then starts again. Can you fix this problem in a future issue? Skitter via eWorld
- The new slide show program has some problems and the author is working on a new version. To avoid the endless loop problem, click on the ad or slide show button and then move your mouse to the one of the BORDERS of the magazine. That way, when the slide show ends, it won’t register another click in the magazine (that’s the cause of the problem). —TD

Expired Updaters? Huh?
Dear IMG: In the January/February CD-edition of IMG, the Glider updater (both of them) do not work. It says the updaters have expired. Any clue as to why this happened? Sundance via eWorld
- Apparently the updaters had expiration dates on them. We’ve included new Glider Pro updaters that fix this problem as well as correct some new bugs. Check them out in the More Goodies folder under Bug Fixes. —TD
Splitting Costs
Dear IMG: I am happy for IMG’s success with the CD-ROM. But I am concerned with your new policy that will eliminate the disk version and cause everyone to pay $59 for a subscription. I think many people, including myself, upgraded to the CD-ROM version for $25 and found that to be relatively a good deal. But when renewal comes around, a whopping $59 might make them think twice, unless you create a 2-payment system (split up the $59 so that it’s not such a burden all at once). What do you think? Michael B Dixon via Internet
- We think that’s a great idea. We’ve decided that come renewal time for the CD-ROM, you can choose to extend your subscription by 5 issues for $35 or 10 issues at $59. Sound good? We hope so. —TD
Rusty Metal
Dear IMG: Boy am I disappointed! I’ve been going through some of the old IMG articles on the Internet, and I came across a review (sneak-preview, actually) that you did on a game called Screaming Metal from a company called Reactor in Chicago.
I actually saw those pictures a very long time ago, because I remember the metallic figures. Anyway, I called Reactor, and the secretary told me that product is “way down” in the development list! What gives? She wouldn’t let me talk to anyone there. Do you any info on this? Tim Paige via Internet
- I’m afraid we are out of the loop also. However, expect some new products from Reactor shortly. —TD
Unable to Open
Dear IMG: I am unable to open the Marathon FAQ file. First it asks me if I want to open it with SimpleText and then tells me it is too large to open with SimpleText. Is there any other way to open it? Jalisco555 via AOL
- SimpleText doesn’t open files larger than 32K (the Marathon FAQ is larger than 32K). Try opening the file with a word processor or something similar. —TD
